As mentioned, last Friday we went hunting for Felicia and found that “Floyd’s Place” had been burned substantially. We rushed to "Bessie’ Place" (not more than a mile away) and discovered damage there as well.

The fence is gone, as is the glass and window frames.

Looking into the living room from outside.. Notice the floor?

Several weeks ago, we had 50mph+ winds for three days. There’s a bit of damage here and there from that..

The living room of the house. A fire was set in the middle of the floor and an accelerant looks like it was applied towards two walls. Hard wood floors and bases kept it from burning quickly (despite the dry conditions here). It also appears that it was caught before it could spread much.

After Bessie’s place, we circled back out around the area to find other locations. This was taken a former WW2 training airfield.

On the drive home, we found this little house in Quartz Hill, all boarded up

I don't know if you've seen this website yet, but I thought you might be interested in it nonetheless:

Date: 2007-05-23 11:23 pm (UTC)Basic ground rules for recon:
* When you see a site, look closely from a distance..
* Take note of anything out of place activity wise (fresh locks or clean "No Trespass" signage..
* Is the site accessible safely..
Things like that.
When we go exploring, I'd strongly suggest not bringing Evan the first time. Nothing against him, but my safely requirements to explore are fairly high. I'd rather you had some experience first so you can explain things to him afterwards.
Things to plan for (wear or bring):
* Hiking or work type boots (nails and sharp stuff in the foot sucks),
* Bring a heacy duty flashlight and a mini-mag lite backup,
* Hat and Glasses (creepy things in the hair and eyes suck),
* Water bottles,
* Leather Gloves (in vehicle)
:)
