Well the update is that there isn't any news. Though they told me to expect a call back last week, no news was forthcoming. I e-mailed them yesterday and was told that they were still reviewing and interviewing. According to most folks here, it's not uncommon for them to delay this kind of decision.
There's another reason that may have jolted this process. Last week, the 2007 defense budget came out and there were some major shake up's in the Lockheed business plan. First off, my airplane (F-117 Stealth Fighter) is scheduled for early retirement starting at the end of 2007. If this occurs, my test branch will close down by the end of this year. They may be working plans to reshuffle a lot of people.
EDIT: It's always a bad thing when your company's website, which contains news and statements about ongoing programs, mentions nothing about fighting the projected closure of your aircraft program. It's even worse when you look up the published company business plan to gain ideas for your as projected year in review performance plan and find absolutely nothing mentioned about the future of the program either. Not to make any pronouncements, but the future of this plane looks very bad to me right now. Lockheed's senior leadership seems to be very quiet.
Perhaps it was a very good thing to have started looking when I did.
