Given how screwed up my hand is, I thought it was about time to demonstrate what condition it’s actually in. Last night, after crashing about the kitchen and office, I asked Brenna to take a couple of shots.

This is the best of the lot. After this Brenna started having focus and attitude problems. I won’t say which was with the camera and which was with herself.

On top of that, I finally broke down and allowed Brenna to get her new pet. She paid for the tank, the accessories and the critter herself. It’s a giant African millipede. She’s named it Louis.

It is about 7 to 8 inches long and fairly docile. As the pet store owner said, “this is the easiest pet you’ll ever own.”

As I’ve also mentioned, I have a pretty and often barely clothed house guest. Here’s a couple of somewhat not safe for work pictures of her.

Did I mention that she’s a bit of a tease? To her credit, she’s helping out around the house and with the kids to a great degree. In fact, I think last night she finally helped me reset and reinforce to the kids how potentially dangerous some of our abandoned sites expeditions are. That was in evidence on Wednesday night when we went on a completely spur of the moment abandoned sites “bum hunt.” Yes, we went looking for Felicia. We didn’t find her per se but we found both the original house (Floyd’s Place) and the second house (Bessie’s/Felicia’s Place) had been heavily trashed. Pictures and story to follow later.

May the solstice bring peace, reflection and joy. Fall is here today.

I'm taken aback by how ... open minded ... you are with your kids.

I've always been open minded about most things. Trish is the extreme end of that open mindedness. The abandoned sites activity is a pretty close second.
