Fright Night LA – Creature Feature Performance

Updates... sigh.. I believe that I’m jinxing myself when I say “I’m going to post ‘blah’ tonight or tomorrow.” Between allergies, a cold (hiding behind the allergies) and my ‘adorable’ little monsters, I’ve been too out of it to post. Photos have been ready, but when I couldn't work for more than 2 minutes without sneezing, blowing my nose or just feeling like crap.

Anyways, during the February Fright Night, these guys put on an absolutely rockin’ performance and supporting their brand new CD, “The Greatest Show Unearthed.” The reviews of this CD are very positive, and bought one right after the performance. To paraphrase one reviewer, it’s like listening to wonderfully demented side show carnival music, composed by Tim Burton on crack. This CD is available at the Creature Feature MySpace site, or on the band’s website. Or the download can be purchased here .

The music’s incredible and some of you have heard it without even realizing it. Anyone who attended the Vintage Vamps burlesque shows this month, heard two tracks from the new CD during the opening act and in Renea La Roux’s performance. It was VERY appropriate.

Without further foolishness and distraction.. Creature Feature! [14] )

Besides sitting in front of the computer part of the weekend trying to prep, edit and upload various pictures; there was some family activities.

To keep this very short (since I'm about to head out), last week I took the kids to see "Ghost Rider." It's mindless fun, but not great. They could have done so much more to develop the Johnny Blaze character, but whether it was Nick Cage's downbeat style of acting or something in the writing/direction end, I couldn't get into it as much as I would have liked to. The kids and I liked it, but I can't say it's memorable.

Thursday - head was full.. temper was short, brain was mush.. bbbrrrraaaains...

Friday (after work) we went to the grocery to restock. If anyone thought that California's cost of living couldn't be too high compared to the rest of the country, consider this.. this was a one cart $300+ basic grocery purchase. Basic bing defined as meat, fruit, canned goods and essentials. By the time I got home from this, my eyes were burning not only from the price but from my allergies going into overdrive. Beyond that I was exhausted and didn't want to go out.

Saturday I'd planned and considered several shows with I'd been invited to. I can can also plead ignorance and confusion about a certain cook-out a friend was holding in Van Nuys. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] abitbattyhere and [livejournal.com profile] mgnficntbastard if I missed the cookout, but I got dates and invites confuzzeled. Instead I worked in the yard with the kids and planted the last of the plants for their garden.

Cold/allergy/alien mind probe, this was the worse day (even with Claritin). As it got worse during the day, I pretty much took everything in the house that related to my sinuses by the time I went to bed. The one highlight I'll mention though.. I bought Chris his very first, Daisy model 105 Bushmaster BB rifle. I sat with him and taught him about various aspects of weapon safety which he just ate up. He, Brenna and I then sat in the backyard plinking at a small target on the ground.

On Sunday, I took Chris to SCA youth Combat practice in the afternoon. This was the first SCA related activity I'd done since last October. He had a bunch of kids to spar with and I tried to teach a bit, but I felt a bit behind the curve. Around 3pm he and I packed up and headed home. More to follow, but I need to compose this next family entry a bit and it's time to go.
